There is no ocean sound in Background Noises. Here is what comes closest.
Background Noises does not have an ocean or wave sound. Its nature sounds are River, Rain, Fire and Forest. If you came for waves, River is the nearest water sound, Rain the nearest wide, soft roar, and brown noise the nearest steady low rumble.
What makes waves sound like waves?
Movement on a slow cycle. A wave builds, breaks and draws back every several seconds, so the sound of the sea swells and fades again and again, with a low roar underneath and fizzing foam on top. None of the nature sounds in Background Noises has that rise and fall: River, Rain and Fire each hold one level from start to finish, and Forest is distant birdsong.
What comes closest?
- River is moving water, close and gentle, without the swell of the surf.
- Rain has the wide, soft roar of heavy water heard from a distance.
- Brown noise is the deep, steady rumble under the waves, with nothing on top.
