Delete your Background Noises account
Three ways to do it, what is removed, what is kept and why, and what happens to a plan you pay for.
You can delete your Background Noises account in the app, in the web player, or by writing to us from the email address on the account. Deleting it removes your sign-in, your plan record, any credits left from the earlier app, and your listening records. It cannot be undone. It does not cancel a plan you bought through Apple or Google, so cancel that in the store first.
How do I delete my account?
In the app
Open Settings (the gear on the main screen), choose Delete account, type DELETE and confirm. If you signed in with Apple, deleting the account removes your Apple sign-in from our records. To take Background Noises off the list of apps that use your Apple Account to sign in, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, and remove it under Sign in with Apple.
In the web player
Open the web player and sign in the way you usually do. In Settings (the gear), choose Delete account and type DELETE to confirm.
By email
Write to privacy@thirdspaced.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We confirm the request with you before we act on it.
What is deleted?
- Your email address, name and password, and your Apple and Google sign-in links
- Your sign-in on each of your devices: every session is ended
- Your plan record, and any credit balance left from the earlier app and its history
- Any Beat Builder presets that moved from the earlier app
- Your listening and session records, and any reports you sent about a sound
What is kept, and why?
In our own systems: a closed account record with no email, name or password, so the account cannot be brought back by mistake; the record of which Terms of Service you accepted and when, which we keep as evidence of our agreement; the record of each credit pack you bought, with its link to your account removed, so that the same purchase can never be credited to another account; the record of each App Store or Google Play subscription the account held, so that a new account can never take it over; if the account had a web trial, one-way codes made from its email address and from the card that started the trial, which cannot be turned back into either, so that each person gets one trial; and the record of each sign-in session the account had (when it started, and the IP address and browser or device type it came from), which we keep as a security record. For a plan bought on the web, our Stripe account also keeps the customer record (email address, name and billing address) and the invoices, as records of the payments, for tax and accounting. Apple and Google keep the records of purchases made through them under their own policies. Deleted information can remain in backups until they are overwritten in the normal course. The Privacy Policy has the detail.
What happens to my plan?
- Bought in the app: Apple or Google bills it, and deleting your account does not stop the billing. Cancel it in your Apple Account or Google Play subscription settings.
- Bought on the web: deleting your account sets the plan to cancel at the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing more is charged.
- Credits you bought before the move: deleted with the account, so ask for any refund of unspent ones first. The Refund and Cancellation Policy says which ones we refund.
Can I keep a copy of my data first?
Yes. In the web player, choose Download my data in Settings, or ask us for a copy at privacy@thirdspaced.com, before you delete the account. After deletion there is nothing left to send.
