Plans and prices

Two plans, and one account on the web and in the apps. Prices as of October 19, 2026.

Background Noises has two plans. Free costs nothing and plays a 60-second sample of everything. Premium, the one paid plan, is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year on the web and plays the eight music and four nature stations, the noise colors and the tones for hours. There are no credits and no packs.

On the web, a new Premium plan starts with a 7-day free trial, one per account, and a card is required. Nothing is due at checkout. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the card is charged the plan price when it ends, and the plan renews each month or year until you cancel. In the apps, the App Store or Google Play sets the price in your currency and shows it before you buy. See pricing and the Terms of Service.

Annual plans

Premium is $49.99 a year on the web, charged once a year in advance. That is about 10 months of the monthly price. An annual plan renews each year until you cancel, and cancelling stops the next renewal.

If you subscribed before

If you already pay for Essentials, you keep the price you pay, and your plan now includes everything Premium does. Background Noises no longer uses credits. Credits you bought before and had not used are kept on your account, where they cannot be spent. We refund the ones bought on the web or on Google Play on request; for ones bought in the App Store, Apple decides refunds, so ask Apple. To ask us for one, write to joshua@thirdspaced.com from the email address on your account.

Buying in the apps

In the apps, the App Store or Google Play sets the price in your currency and shows it before you buy. In the App Store, the paid plan may also be listed as Essentials; every Essentials plan includes everything Premium does. Any trial or introductory offer in the apps is the one the App Store or Google Play shows before you buy. Apple or Google bills the purchase and handles renewal. Apple decides refunds of App Store purchases; for a Google Play purchase, you can ask Google or us. A plan works everywhere you sign in with the same account: one bought in an app works in the web player, and one bought on the web works in the apps. To restore a purchase on a new phone, tap Restore purchases in the app's Settings (the gear on the main screen).

How do I cancel?

On the web, use Manage billing in the web player, or write to joshua@thirdspaced.com; cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. For a plan bought in an app, use your Apple Account or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a plan.

Refunds

Apple decides refunds of App Store purchases, under its own policies. For a Google Play purchase, ask Google, or write to us: Google Play lets us issue refunds too. For a web purchase, write to joshua@thirdspaced.com about any charge you think is wrong; the Terms of Service set out when we refund, and the Refund and Cancellation Policy explains how to ask.

Tax and your card statement

Prices are in US dollars. If tax applies, it is shown at checkout before you pay. On card statements, web plan charges read BACKGROUND NOISES, except the first charge after a trial, which reads BACKGROUND* TRIAL OVER. Receipts and invoices come from Third Space LLC, which runs Background Noises.
